The East End of downtown Washington is the largest submarket in DC. Over the past several decades, this area has been rejuvenated first by the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Corporation, and then in 1997 by the opening of the $260 million Verizon Center. This entertainment venue is a significant catalyst for many of the restaurants, shops, and office space that supports the continuing growth of local businesses, accounting and law firms, and associations desiring this location.

The opening of the $800 million, 2.3 million-square foot Washington Convention Center in 2003 has created thousands of jobs and attracts several million visitors annually. Expanding six city blocks, it is the largest building in the District, and has created opportunities for local businesses as well as diversified the region’s economic base.

The East End’s ongoing revival has established this area as an unparalleled, world-class location in downtown Washington, DC.
